FAQ

Welcome to one and all: Some frequently asked questions about The Dance Academy:

Q: Is there a uniform?

A: Yes there is, but it is not compulsory. It consists of a pink  leotard with attached skirt, pink ballet shoes. (Pink ballet socks & a pink crossover cardigan are optional). Grade I upwards also have Character Skirts & shoes. Once new students have settled into the year & happy doing ballet then it is preferred if they avail of the uniform, which can be bought in sections. The first investment to go for would be the ballet shoes. To start off they should wear loose fitting clothing, leggings & top / a skirt. In the absence of ballet shoes, slipper socks are advised for their feet, as ordinary shoes are too firm to allow flexion of feet & toes

Q: How long is the term / year?

A: The school year in each centre consists of three ten-week terms, from September – May. There are breaks for Halloween, Christmas, St. Patrick’s week, Easter & May Day bank holiday. Exact dates are given in the 2nd & 3rd Term letters.

Q: Is it possible to take Jazz classes only without Ballet?

A: Yes, although the two disciplines compliment each other well. It is also possible to take Ballet classes without Jazz, although discounts are available for those taking both classes.

Every year students work towards either R.A.D. Ballet Examinations and or I.S.T.D. Jazz examinations, alternate years each student works towards an end of year full scale School Production.
