CHILD PROTECTION POLICY <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dance Academy is committed in ensuring that children under the age of 18 are protected and kept safe from harm while they are being supervised by staff and volunteers in the school or venue where projects are taking place. We will adhere to the recommendations of Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and welfare of children 2017 and children First Act 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


WE ENDEAVOUR TO PROTECT CHILDREN BY: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Following a code of behaviour for teachers, which is based on established child protection guidelines and includes safe teaching practice and methodologies. 
-Fostering an environment where children can feel safe to voice their concerns about their own or other childrens safety. 
-Responding swiftly to all suspicions, allegations or events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


POLICIES:
-Children should be supervised at all times while in our care.
-Any activity including classwork, rehearsal, performance, competition or exam should be carried out only under the direction and supervision of an appropriately qualified individual. 
-Dangerous behaviour by children should not be allowed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALL STAFF SHOULD:
-Set a good example.
-Treat everyone with respect. 
-Train in child protection from the Child and Family Agency (Tusla) 
-Have Garda clearance (from National Vetting Bureau) 
-Treat all children equally, respecting differences of ability, culture, religion, race and sexual orientation.
-Discuss boundaries of behaviour and sanctions as appropriate to the activity, with children and their primary carers.
-Create an atmosphere of trust.
-Respect childrens right to personal privacy.
-Explain to children why any activity may involve physical contact and be clear the child is comfortable with the level of contact.
-Not have inappropriate physical or verbal contact with a child in their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CODES OF PRACTICE:
-Ensure that working space is appropriate to the activity.
-Ensure that all participants are suitably equipped for the activity, in terms of clothing, footwear and protective garments.
-Be cognisant of childrens individual limitations.
-Work at a level that is appropriate to the age and physical ability of the child.
-Take care to follow the accepted physical steps of warm up and cool down.
-Report and record any incidents or accidents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE DANCE ACADEMY IS COMMITTED TO:
-Advise primary carers of our child protection policy.
-Issue consent forms where relevant.
-Comply with health and safety practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Operate in accordance with best practice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRIVACY POLICY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dance Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Data Protection Regulations 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with the GPDR Statement.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and replaces the previous Data Protection. It was approved by the EU Parliament in 2016 and comes into effect on 25th May 2018. GDPR states that personal data should be \u2018processed fairly & lawfully\u2019 and \u2018collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes\u2019 and that individuals data is not processed without their knowledge and are only processed with their \u2018explicit\u2019 consent. GDPR covers personal data relating to individuals. The Dance Academy is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals with respect to the processing of children\u2019s, parents, visitors and staff personal data. The Data Protection Act gives individuals the right to know what information is held about them. It provides a framework to ensure that personal information is handled properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bWhat we do at The Dance Academy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not disclose (other than to Official Examination bodies) or sell personal data to third parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not disclose personal data to other members of the School and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The School uses contact numbers and emails for communication with and updates to parents, whole school and individual communication, invoices and general information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emergency Parent contact numbers are kept by The Dance Acadmy for the use of emergency contact & for contact in respect of Dance School business only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal data is stored in a locked password protected computer database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paper registration forms are stored in a secured cabinet at the principals home address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hard copy information is destroyed via a shredding device when the students leaves the School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bInformation about individual children is used in certain documents, such as, a weekly register, medication information and examination documentation. These documents include data such as children\u2019s names, date of birth and emergency contact numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dance Academy stores personal data held visually in photographs or video clips. No names are stored with images in photo albums, displays, on the website or on The Dance Academy social media sites without express permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to the School Email account, Website, Personal Data, Social Media Accounts and Examination Details is password protected and is not available to members of the Public, members of the School and or it\u2019s staff. The Principal (Sinead Dunbar) has sole access to all this data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bGDPR includes 7 rights for individuals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) The right to be informed<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dance Academy is registered with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and as such, is required to collect and manage certain data. The School collects parent\u2019s and or guardian\u2019s names, addresses, emergency telephone numbers, medical information and email addresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bAs an Employer of Self Employed practitioners, The Dance Academy is required to hold data on its Teachers such as names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers and bank details. Information such as personal Public Liability insurance, RAD\/ISTD Membership details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b2) The right of access<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At any point an individual can make a request relating to their data and The Dance Academy will need to provide a response (within 1 month). The Dance Academy can refuse a request if we have a lawful obligation to retain data but we will inform the individual of the reasons for the rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b3) The right to erasure<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have the right to request the deletion of your data where there is no compelling reason for its continued use. However, The Dance Academy has a legal duty to keep student and parents details for a reasonable time*. Self Employed Teaching records will be erased when the member of staff leaves their position. All hard copy information is destroyed via a shredding device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* The Dance Academy holds personal data while the student is registered at the School. Once the student leaves data will be erased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) The right to restrict processing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents, visitors and staff can object to The Dance Academy processing their data. This means that records can be stored but must not be used in any way, for example School Communications, General Emails about School news and updates.  In this situation, The School has no obligation to refund any classes missed or cancelled due to \u2018lack of communication\u2019. It will be the parent\u2019s responsibility to ensure they are informed about any event\u2019s happening at the School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b5) The right to data portability<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dance Academy requires data, for example registration forms to be transferred from student, to teacher, to School Principal. The School is also required to provide data such as student DOB and exam pin number\u2019s to be able to enter students in dance Exams. In this case recipients use secure file transfer systems and have their own policies and procedures in place in relation to GDPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b6) The right to object<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents, visitors and staff can object to their data being used for certain activities like marketing or research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7) The right not to be subject to automated decision-making including profiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Automated decisions and profiling are used for marketing-based organisations. The Dance Academy does not use personal data for such purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
